{event} The Vanic Family
They say April showers bring May flowers, but by the end of April this year, the flowers were already blooming and the sun was shining on the day I met Amy and Christian to take photos of Christian for his First Holy Communion. I arrived at their church in West Chester with just enough time to walk around and take some photos of the beautiful landscape around the church. Along with a few breath-taking statues and gardens, I found a bench with the Serenity Prayer engraved on it (personally, one of my favorite prayers).
Christian looked as handsome as ever in his Communion suit. The first thing he showed me, besides his immense grin, was his tie clip--”a family heirloom,” as he described it. We started taking pictures outside. Chrsitian, with his own eye for photography and lighting, had some really great ideas for pictures. He too loved the statues and the flowers I photographed before they arrived, and aside from his dapper suit and the exquisite weather, the only other props we used were Christian’s bible and rosary beads. It was absolutely perfect...and we had SO MUCH FUN!
Christian, as always, was so respectful and reverent in each photo taken, but make no mistake, we had many laughs as well. His adorable, infectious smile and giggle echoed through the church when we moved inside to take some pictures. When I got close to his face with my camera, we both started laughing, and when he sneezed and thought he ruined a picture, we laughed even harder.
The church was gorgeous and enough light poured through the stained glass windows to illuminate the altar, which is where some of my favorite pictures from this shoot were taken. Inside the church, Christian also wanted to be photographed with St. Joseph and Saints Simon and Jude, for whom the church is named. This photoshoot was special-I am so honored that Amy and Kevin asked me to photograph this celebration for their family, a family I adore. Congratulations, Christian, and God bless!
