You don’t ever really need a special occasion to take pictures; however, when Nonna and Pepe visit, the occasion is special, and photos are necessary. Easy like a Sunday morning...and it was a Sunday morning: the day after Bethany and James’s luau party. The sky was overcast (which I don’t mind at all for pictures, despite the name Sunlight Photography) with little bouts of sunshine peeking through the clouds. Their house, a completely different state than it was the night before, was peaceful and quiet. It was about 9:30 am when I arrived and Beth’s house smelled like coffee (her famous French pressed coffee). Since Rory was still taking his nap and James had an early tee time, I was able to enjoy a wonderful conversation with Beth and her parents over a cup of that freshly pressed coffee. We talked about teaching and work, kids, baseball, and how much fun we all had honoring and saying goodbye to the tiki bar the night before. We were all clad in Hawaiian attire for the party...because who doesn’t love a good theme. This morning though, Beth and I rocked some leggings and t-shirts and Bethany’s parents were dressed in their best to smile with their favorite little man. Georgia and Ed are absolute gems. Their calm demeanor and down-to-earth sense of humor started our morning photoshoot off wonderfully.

Rory woke, excited for another photoshoot with Aunt Ange, and looking handsome as always. Beth styles his hair almost like a mohawk-and with those chubby cheeks, he just melts hearts. Naturally, we went into the backyard, where the sun was still mostly hidden and there were a few remnants left over from the party. Their backyard is beautiful and a place of serenity for Beth is their corner garden. That was where all of the photos were taken. The purpose of this shoot was just to get some pictures of Rory with his Nonna and Pepe. It was comfortable and laid back and Rory was just filled with so much happiness. His smiles and little giggles were adorable and he kept clapping his hands as we’d cheer, “YAY!” The smiles and expressions in these photos are 100% genuine.

The snapshots came easily as Georgia and Ed each took turns holding Rory, not necessarily posing, but interacting and engaging with him as they normally would. He was so happy to be held by his grandparents and these photos echo that joy. Each picture captures the many “you had to be there” precious moments from that morning. It is always a pleasure being in the presence of Georgia and Ed, and I am so happy I was able to see them two days in a row. Rory is such a loved little man and I am so honored I was able to photograph them with him.
