{event} Rory's Baptism
The family you choose; that’s what we are. Friends who are an intricate part of each other’s lives for every celebration, achievement, tough day, and all the mundane days in between. Which is why when Beth told me a few weeks prior that they were going to get Rory baptized, I was elated. Later on that same night, I went over to Beth’s house blasting TLC’s CrazySexyCool on my way, preparing for our 90s trivia night at Saxers. She had asked me to get to her house a little early to see Rory before he went up to bed. When I got there, Beth was standing at the door holding Rors already in his pjs. He was holding a sign that read, “Aunt Ange, Will you be my Godmother?” He was so sleepy and ready for bed and looked at me like I was insane as I grabbed him and kissed and hugged him. I was so surprised and honored to be asked to be his Godmother. It seemed as though it was just yesterday Beth told me she was pregnant and I started crying the happiest tears for her and James. Now, almost two years of loving and watching Rory grow, I was given the veneration to forever be a part of his life.
August 14th was wonderful. The baptism was brief, but very personal and meaningful. It was evident how much love surrounds Rory. Standing up at the altar with him were Beth and James, his TWO Godfathers (both James and Beth’s brothers, Ulick and Brett), and myself. Even though it was creeping up on his nap time, Rory was an absolute angel the whole time. He looked like a little man in his white suit and gelled hair. We celebrated at Rolling Green afterwards, which was the most enjoyable, delicious way to conclude this special day. Beth asked me to take some pictures at RG. Usually I show up to a shoot in more comfy clothes to climb on random objects, stretch, squat…whatever in order to get the picture I imagine. I didn’t have a change of clothes so I continued as usual in my dress and heels, and I think the staff at RG know me well enough by now to not even question it. Giving everyone a good laugh, I continued to click away, capturing Rory with his grandparents, Godfathers, cousins, and some really precious photos of Rory and Beth and James. The decorations, the cake, and the rosaries (a blessed gift from me), were all perfect props to emulate how blessed the day was. I love you guys!
