{newborn} The Borchard Family
If I could think of the perfect gift, a permanent smile, a miracle...it would be this little boy. Jordan Dominick, you are exactly what we all needed, and I am so happy we were able to pull off these newborn pictures. We didn’t have much time to plan, and I didn’t really have much time to take them, but they truly capture his perfection and the love between this adorable family.
I left work on Friday, about an hour before Mimi, John, and our three kids left to meet their new nephew/cousin with the idea to capture some of these very precious moments. Stephen was feeding Jordan a bottle when I got there. I was able to hold him for a while before we started taking pictures, and it was instant love. His curious eyes, his little terrydactyl cry (as Riss and Stephen call it), his tiny body, and seeing my sister as a Mommy brought me to tears-all happy tears.
Despite his full belly, Jordan was too excited and didn’t want to miss out on a single moment, and that was fine with me because I got to stare into his handsome brown eyes the whole time. His eyes, that look exactly like my sister’s. Wide eyed and bushy tailed, we started in his nursery and Riss and Stephen changed him into this adorable knitted outfit. I couldn’t help but laugh as Jordan, at only 14 days old followed me and the sound of my camera as I clicked away. With a few different outfit changes and a few different props and a few room transformations, I was able to freeze these little moments for them. Stephen is an amazing dad-he made sure Jordan was content and soothed and helped me rearrange furniture. The pictures of Stephen and Jordan are some of my favorites because they are candid. Just the proudest dad looking at his son, kissing his head and completely in awe.
Riss and Stephen are the most natural, loving parents...and I didn’t expect anything less. Seeing them with Jordan as a family. Cano, their pitbull, didn’t leave Jordan’s side. It was the sweetest thing to see. He plopped himself down in the middle of the shoot, content and snug but also making sure he kept his eye on Jordan. Cano even got upset when Jordan started to cry-proving that dogs really are a man’s best friend. This day was so special for so many reasons. I got to meet and hold my perfect nephew, see my baby as a Mommy for the first time, got to picture the newness of a newborn that comes with moments that change too quickly, and watched my kids meet their new baby cousin. Larissa and Stephen, we love you. I took your engagement photos, maternity photos, and now your newborns..an amazing journey and now with a perfect little man. Welcome to the world, Jordan-and welcome to our family. There’s nothing better...this is what life is all about.
I love you.
