{maternity} Bethany & James

When we met for breakfast back in February, tears of absolute joy streamed down my face when Bethany told me she was pregnant. For so many reasons, every time I see Bethany and her growing belly, I feel those same emotions and that same joy. It wasn’t any different when I went to her house a few weeks ago to take her maternity pictures and she met me in the living room in a stunning white dress and her hair and make-up looking absolutely breath-taking. We discussed some ideas she had before the shoot, all very comfortable and laid-back. With the sun shining and James’ tee-time (haha!), we went outside first to take a few pictures of Mommy & Daddy-to-be. Their backyard is an oasis of roses, hibiscus flowers, and a garden, which is where I ended up capturing them. The sun was still rising, but the natural glow and rays fell softly in the quaint corner of their yard.

With the only request of a “Comer” golf ball, James was great as he patiently posed with Beth and went with my “crazy” as I climbed on furniture almost falling, moving things everywhere and suggesting ideas at rapid speed. When the pictures of the couple were finished, Beth and I had a blast as she acted natural and beautiful, and I just snapped away. We went from room to room, used what was there, but the sunlight was the perfect prop for this shoot. A window in their guest room let in just enough light to illuminate all around her. As every pregnant woman knows, it is not always comfortable, but Bethany was up for anything, posing on a chase, her bed, and Baby C’s room. The hour flew by quickly with a few outfit changes, tons of laughs and non-stop conversation. It was so fun taking her pictures.

My best friend is radiant both on the inside and outside. She is strong and resilient and knows that everywhere that life has taken her has brought her where she is now: about to be a Mommy. She and James are two special people to me and my family; it is only natural that our love for their baby is exemplified. We are so excited to meet this little man. Beth, out of all of the pictures we have taken together over the years, these pictures I took of you this day hold a very special place in my heart, as do you and your family. Out of all the uncertainties in life, there are a few things I know for sure: Baby C is already so loved and he will be the best dressed little man in Delaware County!
