{maternity} The Wubbenhorst Family

Super hero poses, tickles, silly faces, jokes, giggles, and a whole lot of excitement and love from the Wubbenhorst family filled Nitre Hall in Havertown this week. Katie, Brad, and their three-year-old son, James met me at the historic building just at the start of our first heat wave this year, but you’d never know it. Katie, just a few weeks shy of her due date with a baby girl, looked beautiful in a flower printed dress. She effortlessly climbed the old wooden stairs, chased James around and was even flipping him upside-down, and still managed to glow in each picture (and it wasn’t from sweat!). I can confidently say that none of us stopped laughing and smiling during this whole photoshoot, and the biggest contribution to that was James. His brightly colored shirt matched his personality and when I complimented him on his awesome “big boy” shoes, he thanked me with a joke. The dynamic between the Wubbenhorst family was truly a pleasure to witness. It was clear that James gets his sense of humor, animated faces, and vivid imagination from his dad. The two were quite the duo, striking super hero poses and telling “knock, knock” jokes that kept us all laughing, despite the heat. Looking on with pure admiration and love, Katie beamed with pride for her growing family. My favorite part of this photoshoot, besides getting to meet an amazing family, was that none of these photos were forced. Each frame was a genuine representation of who this family is. James was so comfortable in being himself, leading us to different spots he thought would be good for pictures, and never holding back when it came to becoming his favorite Avenger. His faces, as enthusiastic as his personality, spirited every single photo he is in. Photographing this family was so light an easy. The love between Katie, Brad, and James was palpable. Their sense of humor and willingness to all be themselves was as natural as the sunlight beginning to set. I also felt a familiar calmness and confidence talking about super heroes with a three-year-old named James, which lasted the whole session. They were such a cool family to capture, and I share in their excitement for the future addition to their family. Congratulations to Katie, Brad, and James-I am so honored to have photographed your family!
