{newborn} The Montemuro Family

Nothing takes my breath away like the perfection of a newborn baby; and that's just what he was: perfect. His little scrunched up face, puckered lips, and even his raspy little cry reminded me just how precious the first weeks of life are to both babies and new parents. I got to Lauren and Phil's house just a little early to sit with them and spend some time with my best friend and the most adorable addition to her family. Owen was just finishing up feeding, and though we hoped he would fall fast into his milk coma, he wanted to stay up for all the action.

I took about an hour worth of photos while Owen (OMM, the little yogi baby) was still awake. Though most newborns would be cranky and fussy during the poking and prodding of their personal space, he was taking everything in and analyzing me and the camera.

As a photographer, the most delicate moments are the moments that aren't posed, the candid happenings of every day life. One of the most profound memories I have from this photo shoot was when Owen reached his point of being "over tired." He started squirming and crying in Lauren's arms, and it seemed like her mommy instincts kicked in instantaneously. She handed him to Phil and got out "Oh, Baby the Places You Will Go" and started to read to him. Within minutes, Owen was hushed, calmed, and sleeping. They quickly became my favorite pictures taken that day.

The most beautiful photos are the seconds in between. I am honored to have been there to witness the unconditional love and happiness that now exists within this family and capture a glimpse of the beauty of the conscious snapshots and the impromptu ones of the Montemuro family.
